About This Role

Ami Arroyo Recruiting is helping an established AI company pioneering new approaches to data development find Clinical Psychiatry Subject Matter Experts. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape AI’s understanding of complex psychological concepts and clinical practice by developing and reviewing domain-specific questions that challenge modern AI models.

As a Clinical Psychiatry SME, you will support the client’s research team by creating difficult, high-quality questions and performing peer reviews of content developed by other experts. Your contributions will directly influence the accuracy and reliability of AI models in clinical psychiatry.

  • Scholarly Rigor - Your academic or professional background in Clinical Psychiatry, Psychopharmacology, Psychotherapy, Abnormal Psychology, Human Development, or related fields provides a strong foundation for creating and evaluating AI content with precision and depth.

  • Keen Eye for Detail - You have excellent English writing, editing, and proofreading skills. You can produce clear, concise summaries and review written content to ensure scientific and clinical accuracy.

  • Team Synergy - Whether you have experience as a professor, teaching assistant, researcher, consultant, or editor, you thrive both independently and collaboratively. You are comfortable contributing asynchronously and participating in occasional live discussions with the client’s research team.

  • Creative Problem-Solving - Your research, clinical, or educational experience enables you to craft challenging prompts and provide thoughtful feedback that pushes AI’s understanding of psychiatric concepts.

  • Enthusiasm for AI and Psychiatry - You are passionate about the intersection of science, mental health, and technology. Prior experience in exam development, test item writing, or AI-related projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced, domain-specific questions that test the client’s AI models’ understanding of Clinical Psychiatry.

  • Peer-review questions submitted by other SMEs to ensure clinical accuracy and clarity.

  • Collaborate asynchronously with the client’s remote research team to refine content and maintain quality standards.

  • Contribute to a cutting-edge initiative that applies human expertise to train AI models.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Clinical Psychiatry, Psychology, Psychopharmacology, Human Development, or a related field.

  • Recent experience in the field as a:

    • Professor, Lecturer, or Instructor

    • Graduate or Teaching Assistant

    • Researcher or Editorial Board Member

    • Consultant, Adviser, or other professional expert

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent English grammar.

  • Ability to write clear, concise, and clinically accurate questions and summaries.

  • High attention to detail when reviewing content.

  • Ability to work independently and asynchronously, with occasional live meetings.

  • Reliable computer and internet connection.

  • Signed NDA and completed background check required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in test item writing, exam development, scoring, or AI projects.

Pay Structure

  • Compensation is output-based: you will be paid per question that passes peer review and per peer review completed.

  • Strong performance can yield the equivalent of $30/hour.

Schedule & Location

  • Flexible schedule: work anytime, ideally 8–40 hours/week.

  • Remote: U.S. candidates only (excluding California, Illinois, and Texas).

  • Independent contractor role
