About the role...

Join us to build Duolingo Ads, Duolingo's direct ad business.

Duolingo is used by over 150 million users every month to learn a language, music, math, or chess. The vast majority of our learners engage with the free, ad-supported version of our app, which is core to our mission of delivering a learning experience that is accessible to all.

As our reach continues to grow, we want to elevate Duolingo's free experience by introducing higher-quality ad formats that delight learners and offer strong monetization potential for Duolingo.

We are seeking an Account Manager contractor to support our growing advertising business, Duolingo Ads. You'll play a key role in supporting Duolingo Ads' growth by supporting and driving the pre and post sale process alongside the sales team. You'll collaborate with sales leadership and the cross-functional ads team to ensure optimal client service.

This role reports into our Head of Ad Sales and works closely with our Head of Account Management and Operations. This is a high-velocity environment where you will be owning the client service function internally and externally , engaging your network to generate demand and drive value to Duolingo and our advertising partners. This position offers a unique, early-stage opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the trajectory of ads on Duolingo for hundreds of millions of learners.

You will...

  • Deliver a best-in-class Duolingo experience for brand partners
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for program execution, managing day-to-day client and internal communications
  • Develop program timelines and kick off materials for new programs
  • Work with key members of the ads team and business to coordinate deliverables, troubleshoot and ensure a smooth campaign delivery
  • Collaborate with Ad Ops to successfully launch campaigns, QA, monitor live program pacing and performance to ensure campaign expectations are met
  • Manage insertion orders and plans within internal sales operating systems
  • Partner with the sales team on RFP submissions and develop media plans inclusive of video and native/custom ad formats
  • Identify in-campaign incremental opportunities and provide your clients with ongoing strategic guidance
  • Lead the development of campaign recaps, telling a holistic narrative of program learnings and insights
  • Contribute positively to team culture and shared goals

You have...

  • 4+ years of experience in account management
  • Client-facing background at a tech company, publisher, or agency managing a brand partnerships, creative development or buying
  • Track record of cross-team collaboration, partnering with stakeholders to lead projects from kick-off through execution
  • Strong project management capabilities, managing high volumes of campaigns with accuracy
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate at a high level with a lot of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
  • Built media plans across spend levels, inclusive of video and native/custom ad formats
  • Strong understanding of ad tech and mobile app ecosystems
  • Understanding of the Duolingo product and the freemium business model
  • Experience monitoring and reporting on performance, using data to tell impactful stories
  • Proficiency in Google Product Suite, Powerpoint, Excel, Slack and OMS tools (i.e. Boostr)
