About the position

The Accountant/Auditor III position at the Montgomery County Police Department involves advanced accounting work, financial management, and auditing responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced accounting work, managing and analyzing financial operations.
  • Ensure adherence to Government Standards Board (GASB) standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare year-end financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with Montgomery County's Office of Management and Budget/Finance/Procurement policies.
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses and recommend actionable solutions for resource allocation optimization.
  • Act as a trusted financial advisor for internal stakeholders, providing guidance on budgetary and financial matters.
  • Utilize integrated ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) for projections, reconciliations, and comprehensive reporting.
  • Monitor expenditure reports and provide oversight for payment processing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field with accounting coursework.
  • Three years of professional experience as an Accountant/Auditor.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) may substitute for a degree in Accounting.
