About the role

Do you enjoy helping others stay active, safe, and healthy? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Activity Assistant / Lifeguard to support the smooth running of our leisure centres and deliver a great customer experience.

This varied, hands-on role includes supervising activities, preparing and maintaining equipment, and lifeguarding duties. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our facilities are safe, welcoming, and supportive for all.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supervising and supporting customer activity sessions, including basic instruction or coaching
  • Carrying out lifeguard duties and ensuring poolside safety
  • Preparing and maintaining equipment and activity spaces
  • Answering customer enquiries and offering clear, friendly guidance
  • Supporting the development and promotion of activities and events
  • Completing daily records, checklists, and incident reporting as needed

What we’re looking for

  • Friendly, approachable, and confident with the public
  • Strong awareness of health and safety practices
  • Ability to work within set procedures and as part of a team
  • Some experience in a leisure or customer service environment
  • Physically fit and able to move and handle equipment regularly
  • A confident swimmer
  • Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English

Skills

Desirable:

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
  • Basic understanding of equal opportunities
