Northeast Psychological Wellness is a New York–based group mental health practice seeking a fully remote, part-time Administrative Assistant & Medical Billing Specialist to support a growing team of psychotherapists alongside other full-time and part-time administrative team members.

This is an as-needed W-2 position starting at approximately 5 hours per week, with the potential to increase to 10+ hours per week as training and practice needs evolve.

Schedule & Availability

  • Flexible schedule
  • Candidate may choose their working hours
  • Must be available at various times Monday–Friday between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
  • Occasional weekend availability is a plus but not required

You will be joining an established administrative team, providing additional support to meet the needs of a busy, fully remote mental health practice.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and relay messages
  • Respond to patient inquiries via email
  • Schedule and confirm appointments
  • Create and maintain electronic patient charts
  • Navigate SimplePractice EHR (prior experience preferred)
  • Verify insurance benefits
  • Submit electronic insurance claims
  • Post payments and follow up on unpaid or denied claims
  • Maintain administrative spreadsheets
  • Attend meetings as needed
  • Collaborate with clinicians and administrative staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of medical or behavioral health billing experience
  • Experience with in-network and out-of-network billing
  • Familiarity with New York billing requirements
  • Experience working in a medical or behavioral health setting
