[adinserter block="1"] Job title: Contractor - Sr Designer - Offline Innovation Company: American Eagle Outfitters [adinserter block="1"] Job description: ASSIGNMENT CLARIFICATION: This position/assignment is temporary. You will be considered an employee of System One, our 3rd party partner of our contractor population, and/or of your specific freelance agency. POSITION SUMMARY: Work within a specific classification and implement the category leader’s direction in all aspects of the design process, from initial concept stage to presentation, to development and execution of the final product. Must be able and comfortable to work in our New York Design Office as needed/several days a week as well as independently from home/remote location on occasion. Majority of this role will require in-person collaboration with cross-functional partners. RESPONSIBILITIES: Constant research of trends, market research and technological innovations that will contribute to the success and launch of new products and categories for the brand Develop creative and innovative concepts and solutions that address specific category needs as identified by market research conducted Focus on active wear, inclusive of leggings, sports bras, and apparel Identify and develop innovative ideas, designs and solutions across all areas of design and categories such as (but not limited to) raw material development, new construction techniques, new silhouette development, sustainability, identification and creation of new categories to launch, etc. Collaborate with Design and CFT partners (Raw materials, PD, Color & Print) to create innovative product designs that appeal to targeted consumers and advance Offline’s design image and product performance Successfully execute ideas, designs and solutions that work within the cost requirements of the brand Actively seek experienced mentorship to develop appropriate designs with regard to cost/value, fit and performance, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising and aesthetic finish Lead in the creation of new processes and design applications to increase product value and performance Build and present inspiring presentations that effectively communicate opportunity, concept, and new ideas to internal and external audiences Utilize your knowledge of category-specific consumers and cultures to improve product performance and appearance, and proactively work with the leaders to advance and build a personal portfolio of design skills, experiences and product and process knowledge Perform preliminary design research domestically Travel domestically and internationally to innovation summits, meet and work with existing and new suppliers Perform other duties as required Work with tech team on new fits and participate and collaborate on wear tests to help in the creation of new ideas and solutions Able to be flexible to work in-office when needed by team/business needs due to current hybrid working environment (in office and remote from home) Able to work in a hybrid environment, meaning that some work may be performed remotely but certain essential functions must be performed in-person/in-office based on the needs of the business In person/in-office collaboration is required, the frequency of such in-person/in-office collaboration (e.g., portion of week, entire week) is dictated by business needs. Such collaboration includes work centralized around product development, milestone meetings, fittings, and approvals QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Design or a related field 5+ years' experience designing and developing innovative products Previous active-wear design experience preferred as this role supports across multiple Offline categories Knowledge of color, textures, and form related to crafting excellent products Excellent communication and analytic skills, including ability to make persuasive presentations to senior management Ability to act as a liaison between multiple cross-functional departments Must be detail oriented, extremely organized, computer literate in Adobe suite and have the ability to handle multiple tasks at once; Photoshop and Illustrator skills and experience are must Keen eye for color, trend, detail and construction Must be a self-starter, be able to work independently, and think outside the box Must be knowledgeable of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Excel, and PLM (or equivalent program) Comfortable working in an hybrid environment - working in office several days a week (based on the needs of the business or big milestone week) with occasional remote work from home Must meet all NYC Vaccination Mandate requirements American Eagle Outfitters is an Equal Opportunity Employer. *LI-AB1 [adinserter block="1"] Expected salary: Location: New York City, NY [adinserter block="1"] Apply for the job now!
