Risk Management Analyst, Sr. Risk Management Analyst, Lead Position Summary AEP's Enterprise Risk organization provides a unique opportunity for meaningful growth in an environment with high visibility to senior and executive level leaders where depth and breadth of knowledge and skills are acquired through building relationships enterprise-wide and within the industry to identify and mitigate risks. The duties and responsibilities focus on further developing strategies and implementing plans to improve AEP's Risk Management programs. This position will also work with functional unit leaders on risk related issues, lead risk assessments and activities, and represent AEP in industry working groups relating to risk. Principal Accountabilities 1.Prepare the on-going development and maintenance of a collective risk view of the Company. Prepare high level summaries and gather information from functional units as needed to support the REC and Audit Committee of the Board. Develop a high level of understanding of the interrelationships of the risks managed by functional units. Conduct and assist with departmental risk analyses across the enterprise to enhance risk identification, prioritization, and REC reporting effectiveness. Interview executives, directors, and other key stakeholders to gain there perspectives on departmental goals and risks in attaining those goals. Draft documents and reports which summarize various risks and facilitate discussion. Lead assessment discussions and drive towards consensus on areas of risk and their relative prioritizations. Draft executive summary and assist the Director or Managing Director in delivery of results to key executives and stakeholders. Consult with various business units as to next steps in value creation stemming from completed risk assessments, e.g. enhanced risk reporting, strategic prioritization, further risk analysis, etc. Collaborate with the Director and Managing Director in making recommendations to the Chief Risk Officer and REC regarding matters of importance affecting the Company's collective risk and emerging risk issues. Manage necessary documentation, information, databases, etc. in support of the enterprise risk management function. 2. Collaborate with functional unit leadership and analysts regarding their development of appropriate risk measures and reporting for risks managed by the functional unit. 3. Risk Management Process Oversight. Review of processes across the functional units to ensure consistency across the enterprise. Identify and help implement solutions to mitigate any inconsistencies. Review of processes with a lean / continuous improvement approach to ensure individuals are doing the right work with the right tools. Development of policies or standards where applicable to ensure adherence to process. 4. Direct department opportunities for a lean / continuous improvement approach to ensure individuals are doing the right work with the right tools. Leads improvements. Reviews and assesses processes. Benchmarks with industry best practice. Identifies and implements solutions for enhancing effectiveness and optimizing performance by using continuous improvement techniques. Offer technical expertise on tools and practices. (Influencing the direction of thinking and recognized authority in an area of expertise and offering technical solutions) Set up standard work based on best practices and update system with identified enhancements. Leads team meetings, document clear actions and enable timeline achievement. Handle information with parties during feedback sharing and drive enhancements. (Assuming the role of project manager for assigned tasks) Conducts training on tools and methodologies and guide employees. Report periodically on continuous improvement activities to management and create presentations on implementation progress for management. #LI-REMOTE Job Category Risk Management Annual Salary To (Mid) 138267.00 Minimum Requirements Risk Management Analyst, Sr Education Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, risk management, finance, or other applicable business operations field. Experience 5 years of total work experience with finance, internal audit, accounting, risk management, project management, or operations experience. Risk Management Lead Education Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, risk management, finance, or other applicable business operations field. Experience 8 years of total work experience with finance, internal audit, accounting, risk management, project management, or operations experience with 5 years of risk management experience; risk management certification, utility experience, and/or familiarity with risk management tools/platforms a plus. Licenses/Certifications Certification with a risk management component a plus. Additional Information High level proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and database management tools/software. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Multi-tasking skills. May require travel. Leading Projects. Requires strong analytical skills. Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, processes and methodologies (preferably ISO 31000) to ensure AEP's implementation of risk processes are in line with industry standards. Familiarity with governmental regulations and industry standards in regards to FERC, State Public Utilities Commissions, OSHA, and NERC requirements is a plus.
