What sort of work? Our highly experienced Private Property & Landed Estates team is looking for an Associate to join them in our London office.

The team specialise in handling a broad range of private wealth property transactional work for private wealth clients including the sale and purchase of substantial and nationally significant rural/landed estates, farms, country houses, and ultra-high value super prime and prime London and town/city residential properties across England and Wales.

Much of our work is with the London HQs of the national agencies and with "magic circle" private wealth firms acting for the other parties. The majority of our transactions are high value, particularly sensitive and involve both UK and international clients and are undertaken off market and below the radar.

We also act as the main point of contact and as trusted advisors for many of our Clients and assist our clients in managing their properties, often working with their land agents and estate/family offices, while facilitating the proactive provision of legal services across the broad kaleidoscope of private wealth.

There is significant cross over and the opportunity to work with many other teams and departments within the firm, particularly Agriculture, Tax, Trusts & Succession, Family, Planning, Construction and Employment and many opportunities for site visits, client contact and inter-office working. Enthusiasm and support for our Business Development and marketing efforts are important at all levels to grow our relationships with our key referrers across England and Wales.

Why this team? The team is led by Chris Massey who is Top Ranked in Chambers UK and recognised as a High Value Residential Property law expert in Chambers High Net Worth, the independent legal guide. He is also a Recommended Lawyer for Agriculture & Estates by the Legal 500.

There is also a Managing Associate, two Senior Associates, two Associates and a number of Senior Conveyancing Assistants, Conveyancing Assistants, Paralegals, Trainees and Apprentices spread across our London, Bristol, Cheltenham and Exeter offices.

We provide excellent training and career progression opportunities in an inclusive environment.

How do we work? We take a flexible, agile approach to working patterns. As a team we agree together on the best working arrangements that will enable each of us to provide exceptional client service, to collaborate and connect with colleagues, and to achieve the right home/work balance.

As a Firm we are committed to supporting our people across all levels to achieve the balance they need. We are open to talking about flexible working and empower any candidate to put forward a flexible working pattern to meet their needs.

Who are we looking for? We are looking for somebody who will understand our values and thrive in our culture. The role will be based in our London office and the ideal candidate will have experience or an interest in some or all of; high value residential property, rural property, landed estates, country houses and/or agricultural property.

There is an established internal workload as well as the opportunity to assist with the growth of the practice. Other skills required include:

  • Ideally 3-4 PQE within a relevant practice area
  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels (written and verbal).
  • A commercial, pro-active and professional approach to work.
  • Excellent organisational skills, demonstrable examples of multi-tasking and an ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Must interact well with others in a sensitive and effective way - a team player.
  • Must be self-motivated, committed to working towards goals with strong enthusiasm and career commitment.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and use of discretion. Must be flexible, successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions.
  • Demonstrate self-confidence, initiative and be an innovative thinker.

This is a great opportunity to join a Firm which believes potential, inspiration, and teamwork should be valued and nurtured.

We work hard to create and sustain an open and collaborative environment. We embrace change and constantly evolve to meet our people’s diverse needs, in the same way that we help our clients to navigate and stay ahead of developments, to move forward together.
