About the position

The Benefits Specialist provides administrative and technical support for the disability plans, health & welfare, voluntary and other benefit plans offered to Ryder employees. This role emphasizes leave administration and requires Workday experience in Benefits and Payroll. The Benefits Specialist will collaborate closely with HRIS and Payroll departments to support the Benefits Department. Key responsibilities include reviewing large data reports, identifying discrepancies, and making updates directly into the Workday Benefits and Payroll systems. This position is remote, allowing work from home.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the disability plans, working closely with the disability carrier and payroll.
  • Perform compliance functions related to reviewing and maintaining the integrity of data in Workday via weekly and monthly data validation and error reporting processes.
  • Support 401(k) plan annual non-discrimination testing and annual ACA reporting as needed.
  • Handle miscellaneous responsibilities related to benefits function, benefits communications, and special projects.
  • Work closely with third-party administrators, employees, and various company functions such as HR, Payroll, HRIS, and IT.
  • Resolve day-to-day problems related to health and welfare new hire and annual enrollment and any corresponding employee issues.
  • Manage weekly and monthly error reports to validate and maintain data integrity between Ryder and vendor systems.
  • Participate in other Benefits department projects and assist as needed.
  • Research and resolve issues related to several benefits plans.
  • Administer Pension and 401(k) plans, including research and problem resolution.
  • Utilize multiple systems to research historical employee and retirement plan data to determine pension eligibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
  • Three (3) years or more direct experience developing and managing HR/Benefits projects and systems required.
  • Working knowledge of Workday Benefits and Payroll is a must, intermediate required.
  • Knowledge of Benefits Administration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
