Will interact with UGA scientists about the research being conducted and will plan, organize, supervise, and participate in the day-to-day operations of the farm. Will supervise farm workers, assist in managing the budget, maintain records and data about the research being conducted, maintain equipment and buildings, and perform any other duties that arise. This individual will be the sole contact for this farm, but will report to the Research Station Superintendent, who oversees all of the Tifton research farms.<br><br><strong>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies<br><br></strong><ul><li>Thorough knowledge of safe farm equipment operation, maintenance, and repairs.</li><li>Ability to collaborate with scientists to suggest new procedures and implement experimental protocols that may not align with typical agricultural procedures.</li><li>Schedule and implement irrigation scheduling across diverse cropping systems and stages of crop growth.</li><li>Foster and maintain effective working relationships with scientists, research teams, industry, and the public.</li><li>Responsible for maintaining detailed records and preparing reports regarding field operations, pesticide applications, irrigation applications, and harvest procedures.</li><li>Direct subordinates to address concerns in a timely manner and maintain the appearance of the farm in a way that reflects the serious nature of CAES missions.</li><li>Ability to hold and maintain a valid Georgia Pesticide Applicator’s License<br><br></li></ul>Physical Demands<br><br><ul><li>Sit and stand for extended periods</li><li>Work outside under extreme heat and cold</li><li>Lift up to 40 pounds</li><li>Bend over repeatedly</li><li>Climb up on large agricultural equipment</li><li>Operate farm machinery</li><li>Driving and pulling trailers on public roads to perform job related duties<br><br></li></ul>Is driving a responsibility of this position?
