At Pet Supplies Plus our vision is to make it easier to find better products for your pets. Our Category Manager position is key in bringing this vision to life. As a Category Manger for Pet Supplies Plus, you will plan, select and purchase key programs, items and brands for a merchandising category.

Responsibilities

  • Driving sales and margin for assigned categories
  • Owning category strategy—monitor trends and act quickly to maximize results
  • Creating annual and monthly plans for category sales and margin growth
  • Negotiating through JBP to secure cost, marketing support, and distribution
  • Managing assortment and planograms for all brands and items
  • Planning and executing promotions across stores and eCommerce with strong messaging
  • Building partnerships with internal teams, private brand, vendors, and distributors
  • Engaging field teams—provide tools and training to drive flawless execution
  • Analyzing competition and trends to grow market share
  • Partnering with inventory and logistics to ensure in-stock and smooth flow
  • Using AI, data and predictive analytics to optimize assortment, pricing, and promos
  • Integrating strategies across in-store and digital channels for personalization
  • Identifying opportunities to grow private brand for differentiation and profitability

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years’ related experience
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of MS Excel
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools and CoPilot
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivation and results orientation with the ability to function effectively as a part of a cross functional team yet work independently
  • Ability to travel to stores, manufacturers, and trade shows – Approximately 5% travel required

  • Omnichannel or Franchise model merchandising experience a plus
