About Us

We are Candy4u and we have a single, ambitious mission: to become the UK's most gift-worthy candy company.

Based right here in Peterlee, we have spent the last 14 months meticulously building our brand, sourcing the finest confectionery, and perfecting our packaging. We are now just a few months away from our official launch, and we need the visuals to match our vision. We aren't just selling sweets; we are selling an experience.

The Role

We are looking for a talented photographer to join us on-site in Peterlee two days a week. This is the perfect role for a photography student, a recent graduate, or a freelance creative looking to make their mark.

While this is an entry-level position, the required output quality is high. You will play a crucial role in defining our visual identity as we introduce our brand to the market.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be responsible for two distinct styles of photography:

  • E-Commerce/Product Photography: Crisp, high-definition, perfectly lit shots of our candy and packaging on plain backgrounds for our website. Customers need to "taste" the texture through the screen.
  • Creative/Lifestyle Photography: Stylised, "Instagram-worthy" shots for our social media and marketing campaigns. This is where your creativity comes in—making the candy look like the perfect gift.
  • Post-Production: Editing and retouching images to a professional standard, ready for web and print use.

Who We Are Looking For

  • The Rising Star: You might be a student or self-taught, but your portfolio speaks for itself. You understand lighting, composition, and colour theory.
  • The Perfectionist: You have an eye for detail. You notice if a label is slightly crooked or if the lighting isn't hitting the sugar crystals just right.
  • The Local: You are based in or near Peterlee and can travel to our HQ easily.
  • Gear: You should have your own DSLR/Mirrorless camera and editing software (e.g., Lightroom/Photoshop).

Why Join Us?

  • Total Flexibility: We need you for roughly 16 hours (2 days) a week, but when you work those hours is up to you. We are open 7 days a week, so we can work around your university schedule or other commitments.
  • Portfolio Gold: You will be the lead photographer for a launching brand. The work you produce will be the face of the company across the UK.
  • Competitive Junior Pay: We offer £15/hour, paid monthly.
  • Be Part of the Launch: Experience the excitement of a startup environment as we go from "building" to "live."

How to Apply

Please send a brief email telling us a bit about yourself. Crucially, you must include a link to your portfolio or attach examples of your work. We want to see how you handle product or food photography.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 per week

Benefits:

  • Flexitime
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
