Role:

The Customer Service Representative assists customers and potential customers with their banking needs; involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments, explaining services, setting up new accounts, and responding to problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives and processes customer financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; transfers amount from customer accounts as directed.
  • Posts transactions to customer accounts and maintains customer records.
  • Welcomes customers and provides routine information concerning services and directs customers to appropriate department for specific information and service.
  • Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.
  • Assists customer inquiries in person and over the phone.
  • Opens new accounts and account maintenance.
  • Supports customer online banking inquiries.
  • Research (missing items).
  • Reviews reports to ensure compliance with government regulations and bank policies are being met.
  • Processes ACH and wire transfers.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Promotes banks services and makes referrals to other bank departments.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Management:

  • Provide informed, prompt, accurate service and support to all customers and associates.
  • Process customer transactions in accordance with bank policy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Open new accounts and ensuring that all related forms and documents are completed and scanned in a timely matter.

Qualifications


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education and/or Experience.

  • High school education or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One month to twelve months of similar or related cash handling and customer service experience.

Interpersonal Skills.

  • Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
  • Understands basic accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Has strong customer service skills and enjoys working with the public.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing this job the employee would occasionally be required to carry loads up to and including 24lbs. It is frequently necessary to bend, squat, reach above the shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance and push/pull equipment. Firm grasping/fine manipulation with the right/left hand is necessary. In an 8-hour day, the employee can expect to sit about 6 hours.
