Environmental Scientist/Engineer (College Point, NY)

CORE Environmental Consultants, Inc. a has an immediate opening for an environmental scientist/engineer for assistance in environmental field work, specifically a long term on-site field position performing community air monitoring and being responsible for the position of qualified environmental professional on site. This is a unique opportunity for self-motivated, detail and challenge oriented person. Strong writing, organization and communication skills are a must. The right candidate has the relevant experience and has shown success at similar positions held.

A minimum Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline (geology, environmental engineering, or environmental science) is required. The ideal candidate will possess 1 or more years of environmental consulting as evidenced by past work experience. Candidate should have solid drafting, computer, writing, and communication skills including solving environmental compliance problems, managing client expectations, resolving problems, and managing project budgets.

Responsibilities will include dust particulate air monitoring, contractor construction oversight for remediation projects, environmental reporting, groundwater/stormwater sampling, and construction SWPPP inspections.

Knowledge of proper field sample collection technique is preferred. Additional experience in Water Quality, Hazardous Waste Management, Stormwater Permitting, SPCC Plan, Health and Safety Plan development, CEQA Permitting, Phase I/Phase II Assessments Petroleum Bulk Storage Tank Site assessment, and soil and groundwater investigations is desired. Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Geology or Environmental Science
  • A vehicle is required for transportation to/from the office and job sites
  • 1-3 years of work experience
  • Certificates required/willing to obtain prior to starting work: OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training
  • Certificates desired: NYSDEC Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector, U.S. EPA Lead Investigator or Risk Assessor, or OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety training.
  • Report writing experience.
