Oversee and manage all financial operations of the state government, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to financial management. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including monitoring and reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and conducting audits. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure responsible and efficient use of state funds. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to develop and monitor budgets, analyze financial data, and provide guidance on financial decisions. Provide leadership and guidance to a team of financial professionals, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations. Monitor cash flow and manage investments to maximize returns and minimize risk. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in governmental accounting and finance. Prepare and present financial reports and presentations to state officials and stakeholders. Maintain a high level of ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, auditors, vendors, and citizens. Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation. Act as a liaison between the state government and external financial institutions or organizations. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes related to financial management.
