Description

The HR Specialist provides human resources and payroll support for a government program - ensuring compliance with federal regulations, agency policies, and contractual requirements. This role supports the full employee lifecycle in a fast-paced environment and works closely with employes, managers, and program leadership to maintain accurate records, adapt to evolving directives, and support positive employee engagement. The position also supports payroll-related functions and high-volume employee inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes in accordance with government and agency-specific requirements
  • Maintain, verify, and audit personnel records to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with timekeeping, payroll processing support, and benefits administration in accordance with government policies
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of payroll systems to review, validate, and resolve payroll-related issues - and play a role in the triaging of these tickets.
  • Respond effectively to shifting priorities, changing policies, and updated government directives
  • Collaborate with program leadership on employee engagement initiatives and workforce planning
  • Track and document HR actions within government and internal HR systems

Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret Clearance Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of employee/candidate engagement experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HR policies, compliance, and records management
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated adaptability to changing policies, procedures, and directives
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of government HR and payroll systems, platforms, and reporting tools
  • Payroll experience, including use of payroll systems and resolving employee pay inquiries
  • Experience supporting government programs or contracts
  • Experience working in a high-volume, compliance-driven environment
