We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of <strong>IT Staff Specialist</strong>, so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!<br><br>The main purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive technical support for the agency’s IT Unit, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient technology services that enable staff to perform their work effectively. The IT Staff Specialist serves as a key technical resource and project lead for telecommunications and access control systems, supporting daily operations while advancing agency-wide technology initiatives. This hands-on, collaborative role combines technical expertise with project coordination, vendor engagement, and customer support to maintain secure facilities, enable mobile connectivity, and deliver responsive, well-managed technology solutions that strengthen operational continuity and service delivery across the organization.<br><br>Some key responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following :<br><br><ul><li> Access Control Systems Support : Serve as the primary technical lead for agency access control and keycard systems. Troubleshoot and resolve security and system issues by coordinating with vendors and security technicians, including outages, equipment failures, and lost or damaged devices. Program and manage staff badge access to maintain secure and controlled facilities.</li><li> Wireless and Mobile Technology Management : Serve as the primary point of contact for agency-issued wireless devices and accessories. Configure, activate, and distribute mobile devices, install and customize applications, and maintain accurate inventory records in the DBM Wireless Inventory Database. Coordinate with telecommunications vendors to procure services, resolve technical issues, and address billing discrepancies. Support Android, Apple iOS, and other wireless technologies.</li><li> Technology Project Coordination : Coordinate department-wide technology implementations from planning through deployment. Develop and execute technology plans addressing equipment, software, and system needs. Organize installations, integrations, upgrades, and maintenance activities, collaborating with IT staff, management, vendors, and interagency partners to ensure projects are delivered as intended and meet quality standards.</li><li> Special Projects and Technical Research : Support special IT initiatives through research of technology products, services, and solutions aligned with agency needs. Assist with procurement documentation for hardware, software, and equipment requests, and analyze current and historical IT data to inform planning and decision-making.</li><li> Telecommunications Support : Provide backup support for telecommunications operations as needed. Research and analyze telecommunications systems, coordinate procurement and system upgrades, and manage department-wide telephone equipment to ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and customer support.</li><li> Procurement and Vendor Coordination : Provide backup support for IT procurement activities, including technology requisitions and planning for hardware and software needs. Prepare Purchase Order Requests for Proposals for supervisory review and collaborate with vendors to support installations, relocations, invoicing, and ongoing service delivery.<br><br></li></ul><strong>This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule. </strong><strong>This position will require travel between various sites.<br><br></strong><strong>Minimum Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong> Experience :</strong> Five (5) years of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for computers.<br><br><strong>Notes<br><br></strong><ul><li> Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and thirty (30) credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or other information technology-related field to include course work in systems analysis and applications programming using generally accepted computer programming languages for four years of the required experience.</li><li> Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and one (1) year of experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining and modifying operating systems for four (4) years of the required experience.</li><li> Candidates may substitute experience operating computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output or maintaining a tape library to process data on computer systems; or evaluating, implementing and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using generally accepted computer programming languages on a year-for-year basis for a high school education.</li><li> Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other information technology related field to include course work in systems analysis and application programming using generally accepted computer programming languages or in operating systems and data communications technology and one (1) year experience designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programming languages or maintaining or modifying operating systems for computer for the required experience.</li><li> Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Desired Or Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong>The preferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following :<br><br><ul><li>Experience with IT Project Management and IT Asset Management (ITAM) software</li><li>Experience managing IT vendor services and contracts, including Statements of Work (SOWs)</li><li>Experience with IT procurement and financial processing, including CPC card usage and invoice reconciliation</li><li>Experience tracking IT inventory across the full lifecycle (procurement through retirement)</li><li>Experience with technical security access control and electronic security systems</li><li>Ability to review and draft information technology policies and procedures<br><br></li></ul><strong>SELECTION PROCESS<br><br></strong>Please ensure that your completed application includes sufficient information to demonstrate that you meet the qualifications for this recruitment.
