The Novelis Bay Minette, AL team is seeking Operators to work in the Bay Minette facility. This role will report to the Shift Supervisor of the hiring Manufacturing Unit. Successful Operators are fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers. They will have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a safe manner in compliance with all Novelis safety and environmental requirements, policies and regulatory statutes.
  • Recognize, avoid, and where possible, eliminate hazards within the workplace.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adhere to schedule/maintain good attendance record.
  • Perform various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on assigned machines.
  • Perform periodic checks on equipment and solve problems as detected; escalate when necessary.
  • Work with others to ensure that equipment is in proper working order.
  • Willing to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Exercise excellent written/verbal communication skills and best judgement.
  • Ability to function and be successful in a collaborative and cross functional team-based environment.
  • Perform quality inspections and routine checks on all equipment.
  • Immediately reports any possible equipment malfunctions and/or quality defects.
  • Mobile Equipment, Crane Operations (as required), Process Equipment Operation.
  • Perform operator-based Maintenance.
  • Operate highly precision based testing equipment.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to problem solve through problems as they arise within in the production process.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and perform housekeeping duties around machine center.
  • Monitor machine equipment and processes; perform routine reporting.
  • Report safety incidents immediately.
  • Active participation in meetings.
  • Follow work instructions and propose process improvements.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must demonstrate ability to function in self-directed workforce in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate basic power tools.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work well with others and be committed to team concept.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
  • Demonstrates strong work ethic and displays a high degree of professionalism.
  • Must be available to work all shifts, either on a rotational or straight shift assignment.
  • Must have the ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays.
