MCE INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW:

Magnetic Component Engineering offers a rewarding and structured internship program where interns will work on industry projects setting them on an accelerated career path. The purpose of a MCE internship is to provide students with the opportunity to gain “real life” business acumen within the Magnetics Industry. Gain hands-on product experience while working on challenging projects, networking with professionals, and learning from some of the brightest minds in business.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT IN AN INTERNSHIP AT MCE?

  • Work on projects that are related to your areas of interest and study with a high level of autonomy and ownership. These projects are designed to bring value to our business.
  • Permag/Dexter will provide weekly trainings that will be delivered by our experienced business leaders to improve your business acumen.
  • Interns will also be provided with personal development training and feedback.
  • Our internship program is diverse across functions and the group of interns will be regularly interacting.
  • Each intern is partnered with an experienced peer as a mentor.
  • Interns are included in company events and receive paid holidays.
  • Our interns who perform well are considered for future internship opportunities as well as full-time employment after graduation.
  • Our interns will be expected to work onsite at our manufacturing facility throughout the summer to collaborate with team members and peers.
  • Interns in the Summer of 2026 will be based at our Torrance California Facility.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct detailed time studies on CNC machining operations
  • Support changes in tooling, fixtures and methods of manufacturing based off of time study results
  • Support standardization of digital CIMCO platform launch to improve real time manufacturing metrics
  • Support new product launch

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and be an incoming Junior or Senior Fall 2026
  • CAD skills and mechanical component design skills are required
  • Machining experience is a plus

Hourly Rate:

1 year of college completed $22 per hour

2 years of college completed $24 per hour

3 years of college completed $26 per hour

4 years of college completed $28 per hour

Magnetic Component Engineering (“MCE”), a subsidiary of Dexter Magnetic Technologies (“Dexter”), manufactures permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies made to demanding customer specification in the aerospace / defense, semiconductor equipment, medical, and industrial end markets. MCE is based in Torrance, CA and operates one 48,000 square foot facility with 85 employees.
