An acute care nursing opportunity is available at a Level 1 Trauma Center located in Des Plaines, IL. This contract position is suited for experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurses who are ready to deliver high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospital environment. The role involves a day shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts (7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.), with a weekend requirement of every other weekend, ensuring a balanced work-life rhythm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Medical-Surgical unit.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.
  • Float within the facility as required to support varying patient care demands.
  • Utilize Cerner electronic charting system for accurate and timely documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and hospital protocols.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Registered Nurse license with at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Ability to float mandatory within facility guidelines.
  • Local candidates preferred, residing within 75 miles of the hospital.
  • Commitment to working assigned shifts without holiday time off requests; no RTO on weekends or adjacent to holidays.

Schedule and Hours:

  • 3x12-hour day shifts, 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend responsibility every other week.
  • Time off guidelines as specified.
