And you'll have any number of opportunities for your career to grow in whatever direction you choose.<br><br><b>Experience:</b><br><ul><li>Responsible for the overall management of Group Life & Disability underwriting (5,000 or more lives) for National Accounts.</li><li>Includes all pre and post-sale underwriting, profit management, renewal processing, policy issue and changes for assigned business segment.</li><li>Demonstrates a solid, consistent technical proficiency of underwriting guidelines and underlying risk management philosophy.</li><li>Establishes solid relationships with all internal and external business partners.</li><li>Actively drives and participates in an assigned amount of project work and special assignments.</li><li>Partners with the field to ensure deliver on service goals.</li><li>Quotes new business opportunities for Core products and underwrites renewals.</li><li>Works directly with sales representatives and brokers on new business, renewals, and service issues</li><li>Demonstrates advanced understanding of the elements of pricing to include risk factors, retention, and reinsurance.</li><li>Interfaces with the sales force regarding underwriting issues and decisions</li><li>Negotiates prices and benefits with sales representatives and brokers.</li><li>Mentors Regional Account underwriters and other staff members</li><li>Look to leverage additional resources around key cases to facilitate better risk management, stimulate innovative thinking, provide creative solutions and potentially different perspectives.</li><li>Seek to understand your individual marketplace dynamics and those of the general market to maximize our chances of success.</li></ul><br><br><b>You'll Be a Good Match if You Have:</b><br><ul><li>A customer-first mindset, putting our customers at the center of everything you do.</li><li>A passion for making decisions through both analyzing h data and employing critical thinking skills.</li><li>A team spirit and desire to work collaboratively.</li><li>A financial mindset to help make the best decisions.</li><li>Ability to own our work and following through on commitments.</li></ul><br><br><b>Qualifications:</b><br><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience</li><li>5 years of Employee Benefits underwriting experience</li><li>Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners.</li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills</li><li>An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.</li><li>High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit.</li><li>Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills</li><li>Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes.</li><li>Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win.</li><li>Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills</li></ul><br><br>***This position can be filled at different levels depending on experience.<br><br>Salary - $88,080 - $149,400<br><br><b>Compensation</b><br><br>The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
