Brown University Health is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to facilitate a quality hospital experience and positive outcomes for patients. This role involves overseeing a specific caseload across the care continuum, from pre-admission to post-discharge, under the guidance of the Medical Director of Patient Services. The Nurse Practitioner will also serve as an educator, consultant, and liaison to healthcare providers, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care across healthcare settings
  • Provide leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model
  • Oversee care coordination in acute, home care, and ambulatory care settings as feasible, assisting the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed upon healthcare goals
  • Provide direct patient care and perform advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Medical Director in acute, ambulatory, and home care settings
  • Provide expert consultation for clinical issues, promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee
  • Participate in the education, clinical research, and mentoring of healthcare providers
  • Facilitate patient/family education in area of expertise

Requirements

  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island or in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement
  • Masters of Science Degree, graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Specialty certification
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
  • Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients considering aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns
  • Two years related experience as an RN in an acute care hospital setting
  • Preferred 1-2 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Prescriptive privileges per licensure
