Whether you are an experienced clinician or a newer graduate, we offer a supportive, collaborative environment where your work truly makes a difference in residents' independence and quality of life.<br><strong><b>General Purpose</b></strong><br><br>The <b>Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)</b> assists the Occupational Therapist with patient-related activities and provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders, treatment plans, and applicable regulations.<br><strong><b>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</b></strong><br><ul><li>Treat residents as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist</li><li>Implement treatment plans according to physician orders</li><li>Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation per OT Board, facility policy, and payer requirements</li><li>Communicate resident progress, problems, and plans with the supervising OT and interdisciplinary team</li><li>Assist nursing staff with training of Restorative Aides as appropriate</li><li>Participate in in-service training programs and care conferences</li><li>Educate residents, families, and caregivers on maintenance programs and discharge planning</li><li>Participate in discharge planning and transition of care</li><li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment area</li><li>Report equipment issues to ensure safe and effective operation</li><li>Maintain positive, professional relationships with residents, families, and staff</li></ul><strong><b>Supervisory Responsibilities</b></strong><br><ul><li>This position has <b>no supervisory responsibilities</b></li></ul><strong><b>Qualifications</b></strong><br><br><b>Education & Experience</b><br><ul><li>Graduate of an accredited <b>Occupational Therapy Assistant program</b></li><li>Skilled nursing or geriatric experience preferred</li></ul><br><b>Licensure & Certifications</b><br><ul><li>Current, active <b>California Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license</b></li><li>Must meet all continuing education requirements</li><li>Must maintain license in good standing with the State Board</li></ul><br><b>Skills</b><br><ul><li>Proficient in electronic documentation systems (<b>Casamba and PointClickCare preferred</b>)</li><li>Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative rehab team</li></ul><strong><b>Physical Demands</b></strong><br><ul><li>Frequent standing, walking, reaching, pushing, and pulling</li><li>Ability to exert up to <b>50 pounds frequently</b> and <b>100 pounds occasionally</b></li><li>Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling</li><li>Visual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception</li><li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions</li></ul><strong><b>Work Environment</b></strong><br><ul><li>Skilled nursing and rehabilitation environment</li><li>Noise level typically low to moderate</li><li>Reasonable accommodations available</li></ul><strong><b>Additional Information</b></strong><br><br>This job description does not restrict management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
