About the position

The Operations and Activation Manager is a key position within the newly created Cadillac F1 Marketing team. This role requires being a key contributor and leader in developing long-term activation plans, short term tactical plans, overseeing day to day operations, and generally a \"Chief Problem Solver.\" This role is specific to Cadillac Formula 1 Marketing. The world of F1 is new for GM - almost like a startup - thus each day encounters new challenges to overcome. Problem solving, flexibility and adaptability are key. Working with each of our global markets requires flexible work hours including weekends. Travel could be extensive, including weekends, both global and domestic.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small GM team and/or agency staff.
  • Mentor, develop, and coach talent.
  • Manage annual marketing budget, forecast monthly and quarterly commitments and annual accruals
  • Develop and manage event activation schedules, promotional calendars, mobile tours, vehicle & accessories display properties and staffing needs
  • Supervise and participate in contractual negotiations with tracks, sanctioning bodies, drivers and suppliers, while managing related approvals with the agency, finance and legal
  • Ensure compliance with business process controls policies including asset distribution, 1099 tracking and information lifecycle management
  • Supervise purchase order requirements, invoice processing, shopping carts, and related approvals
  • Manage annual vehicle inventories, collaborating with the competition team, vehicle coordination and finance to align forecast with budget
  • Supervise on-site event activation including, product displays, pre-race activities, event support vehicles, run of show schedules and other on-site elements where applicable
  • Be the “solution finder” for various opportunities that come our way…agency support/selection for ad hoc needs, transportation plan/support, general “how do you activate in xx location” questions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of Sales and Marketing experience
  • Strong knowledge of experiential marketing and event management

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of our dealer sales and service environment
  • Experience in marketing, advertising, agency / vendor coordination and divisional / field support
  • Self-motivated with proven leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work well in a complex environment and collaborate with assigned promotional agencies, vehicle coordination, finance, race partners, and regions to generate results
  • Experienced in contract negotiation and working with internal and outside legal teams to draft contractual documents
  • Ability to manage creative development, facilitate effective brainstorming among colleagues and demonstrate sound business judgement
  • Strong project management, including execution, follow through and delegation where appropriate
  • Ability to communicate clearly while using a variety of tools
  • Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of internal and external
