Responsibilities:

Creating an emotional link between the products we make and our customers is the work of our H-E-B Own Brand Team. The Own Brand Regulatory team ensures the high quality of H-E-B packaging and labels.

As a Packaging Specialist I, you'll work with multiple vendors, brokers, Buyers, Business Development Managers (BDMs), Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Own Brand Managers, and the Own Brand Design Team to execute on-time delivery of package development, recommend timelines, and accurately communicate revisions and corrections.

What is the work?
With minimal guidance / supervision
Quality Assurance / Quality Control / Compliance:
- Supports activities for style-guided Own Brand packaging-related needs, maintenance (e.g., label updates)
- Ensures accurate spelling, graphics, copy, brand, color, imagery, Regulatory / Quality Assurance compliance on OB packaging within established design parameters
- Coordinates with Own Brand Managers / Regulatory / internal Design team to edit / make minor changes to packaging content
- May adjust / enhance layouts based on style guides in conjunction with Packaging Specialist II or above
- Approves color proofs for packaging
- Facilitates confirmation of UPC and item codes
- Facilitates updates to Own Brand style guide and color standards, as needed
- Stays current on Quality Assurance and Regulatory requirements
- Participates in photoshoots
- Develops strong relationships

Project Management:
- Manages multiple packaging projects with multiple stakeholders; achieves on-time delivery of multiple, simultaneous timelines
- Ensures project work is properly tracked, documented, reviewed, agreed upon by all stakeholders; uses Own Brand systems as needed; collaborates to solve issues
- Communicates precise, accurate information to cross-functional stakeholders; shares project information for launch awareness
- Applies understanding of when to involve Own Brand Manager / Own Brand leadership for support to keep projects on time
- May coordinate / execute / participate in special projects (e.g., department-wide design updates, miscellaneous activities)
- May collaborate with Own Brand Managers to support end-to-end Own Brand process as needed

What is your background?
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 0+ years of experience in marketing, advertising, or retail-related field (preferred)

Do you have what it takes to be an H-E-B Packaging Spec?
- Knowledge of pre-press and printing processes
- Understanding of importing process / timelines, and related impacts on package development
- Strong skills in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Strong verbal / written (proofing, editing) communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Project management skills
- Analytical skills
- Negotiating and influencing skills
- Ability to learn H-E-B systems (e.g., Hivemind, GSS, OBPS, Product Management System)
- Ability to interpret processes and shifting priorities
