Summary:<br>A Phlebotomist II performs the duties of a Phlebotomist I and is trained to support specimen collection from all patient populations. A Phlebotomist I is responsible for the collection of blood and other specimens from all patient populations using prescribed procedures with accuracy, skill, professionalism, and superb customer service. Duties may require on and off-site phlebotomy, specimen transport and specimen delivery duties. Other specialized duties include patient registration, patient lab order management, processing specimens for testing, blood study kit handling, lab order entry and acting as a first responder to emergency codes.<br>Education, License & Certification:<br>- High school diploma or equivalent is required.<br>- Computer keyboard skills and navigation are required.<br>- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent experience is desired.<br>- Medical terminology and/or knowledge of basic anatomy is preferred.<br>- A valid driver’s license is required at some Guthrie locations.<br>Essential Functions:<br>As a phlebotomist you will be responsible for obtaining quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (venous and capillary) using standard safety equipment from all age groups with strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures. You may be required to provide rapid response to medical emergencies such as traumas and codes. Additional responsibilities include:<br>1. Accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation.<br>2. Working with a variety of computer programs/systems.<br>3. Utilizing excellent customer relations and communication skills in performing phlebotomy<br>4. Answering the phone and interacting with patients, nurses, providers, and other health care professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction.<br>5. Demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor.<br>6. Working independently as well as within a team.<br>7. Demonstrating skills in coping, understanding, following written and verbal instructions, organization and prioritization, attention to detail, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision making.<br>8. Assisting with the training of students and new employees.<br>9. You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.<br>10. Phlebotomists may be required to support evening, night, weekend, or holidays shifts for both outpatient and inpatient specimen collection.<br>Other Duties:<br>1. Performs the duties of the Phlebotomy I position.<br>2. Performs phlebotomy in various settings such as inpatient, outpatients (including Patient Service Centers and GMG sites), nursing homes, and home-draws.<br>3. Is responsible for the collection of blood from all patient populations including infants to adults using prescribed procedures.<br>4. Acts as preceptor/trainer of staff and students.<br>5. Phlebotomists may be required to travel to perform specimen collections.<br>6. Other duties as assigned.<br><br>Pay Range $17.00 - $26.42/hour, DOE
