What to Expect Tesla has an immediate opening for a processengineering leader to join the Production Engineering team in Buffalo, NY. Weare seeking a highly motivated, tenacious, and team-oriented leader to beresponsible for the performance of a process engineering team that ownscritical metrics related to manufacturing. The team drives improvements inoverall process efficiency, product yield, and cost through documented actionswith clearly defined schedules and expected results. This applicant will notonly lead by example but also performance manage the team where needed togenerate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high levelof technical ability. What You’ll Do

  • Manage,mentor and lead a team of Process Engineers at Gigafactory NY focused on ourresidential energy and supercharging products
  • Teslapeople leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health andSafety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safetytraining is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correctingworkplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuouslyimprove operations
  • Build& improve management systems to ensure all equipment operates safely,with high availability & product quality and low cycle time
  • Own,report on and drive improvement of area KPI’s including first pass yield, finalpass yield, and cost/unit.
  • Coachengineers to develop and implement process changes to increase capacity,lower cost and improve yield.
  • Leadand assist engineers in resolving unplanned down events and drivingpermanent RCAs, using the 3D/8D process where applicable.
  • Makedaily resource allocation decisions, balancing competing priorities, toserve the needs of the engineering, maintenance, and productioncommunities.
  • Serveas backup engineer for all members of the team both to ensure zero gaps incoverage as well as adequately address issues of escalating complexity.
  • Collaboratewith development manufacturing engineering and controls teams to installand debug new processes and equipment.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience with certifications.
  • Experienceleading teams within heavily automated, high volume manufacturingfacilities, including but not limited to assembly, robotics, etc
  • Exemplarytrack record of high impact contributions both as an individual engineerand in a management capacity.
  • Handson experience with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Demonstratedability to meet commitments and deliver results in a fast-paced technicalmanufacturing environment.
  • Abilityto manage and execute multiple large-scale projects simultaneously,dynamically adjusting priorities to meet changing business needs
  • Outstandingcommunication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Experiencewith application and teaching of structured problem-solving methodology,such as DOE, root cause analysis, etc
  • Experiencewith sql and data analysis is highly preferred.
  • Understandingof mechanical and controls engineering is a plus.
