R&D Business Data Expert, DSAI We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced R&D Business Data Expert to join our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in generating insights and optimizing business processes across R&D by ensuring that our data is FAIR+Q (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable, and of Quality). You will lead the development and implementation of key data capabilities, with an initial focus on Research and Preclinical domains. The R&D Business Data Expert role will be responsible for the vision and delivery of the Business Information Modeling and Business Data Architecture capabilities while closely collaborating with Reference Data Standards, and Data Catalog. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Business Information Modeling:<ul><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Define and evolve conceptual, logical, and physical data models in various formats (relational, graph-based).</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Ensure models support emerging scientific approaches, data types, AI/ML use cases, and regulatory requirements.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Capture metadata of R&D data assets to align with data models.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Own the roadmap and adoption of the business information modeling capability.</li></ul>Business Data Architecture:<ul><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Define a vision and methodology for documenting data flows for prioritized use cases.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Map data flow from production to consumption across business processes.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Scale the data flow methodology across use cases to create a living document of R&D data flows.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Own the roadmap and adoption of the business data architecture capability.</li></ul>Reference Data Standards & Data Catalog:<ul><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Partner with teams managing reference data standards and data catalog tools.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Align modeling and architecture efforts with governance frameworks.</li></ul>Strategic Leadership:<ul><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Influence wthout authority</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Operate collaboratively in a flat-hierarchy environment</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Advocate for data capabilities usage across diverse R&D functions.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Co-shape the DSAI strategy for data and data science.</li></ul>Nice to have: <ul><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Knowledge of German</li></ul> WHO YOU ARE: <ul type="disc"><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">MS in Biological Sciences, Informatics, or Computer Science in a biomedical context.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">15+ years in data modeling, architecture, and metadata management within the biomedical domain.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Deep understanding of R&D and modern quantitative methods, particularly in early R&D.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Strong grasp of data governance, data quality, data catalogs, modern data science, DevOps, and cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS, Databricks).</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Experience delivering high-impact data products/solutions for Pharma R&D.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Self-starter, independent yet collaborative, detail-oriented, and process-oriented.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Effective communicator with high learning agility, capable of translating across multiple domains.</li><li style="font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.</li></ul> The incumbent for this position will be located in the US, India or Germany. This posting will be available for application until 11/25/2025. Employees can expect to be paid a salary between 162,088 - 243,132 .
