The role involves validating credit and income information to underwrite consumer loans while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Utilizes established procedures and guidelines to validate credit, income, and other relevant information to underwrite lower risk credit card and consumer loans within a lower defined limit of authority and to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Reviews member-provided documents for accuracy and alignment with company and industry standards
  • Documents loan decisions and required provisions necessary to complete the loan and communicates the decision
  • Maintains developing knowledge of all aspects of Consumer Lending and Credit Card portfolio and underwriting guidelines
  • Ensures loan agreements are complete, accurate, and in compliance with policy
  • Completes loan decisions that most effectively mitigate credit risks for the client
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures
  • It is extremely important that the candidates have experience with assessing risk based on application information, credit bureau information, and the client's Membership Profile
  • They will need critical thinking skills and the ability to determine the level of risk and make a decision accordingly, without it being spelled out within processes and/or procedures

Skills

  • Underwriting
  • Consumer loan or real estate lending or home loan or credit cards
  • Credit reports
  • 2 years of consumer lending and/or real estate lending experience with an understanding of underwriting
  • Knowledge of consumer loan and credit card processes, data analysis tools, and underwriting guidelines
  • Successful completion of a job-related assessment and certification to obtain lending authority is required upon completion of training
  • Ability to analyze Credit Bureau Reports to assess risk and make informed loan decisions
  • Ability to use established procedures and guidelines to validate creditworthiness, income, and other relevant data
  • Ability to assess risk and determine appropriate loan decisions
  • Experience with Loan Origination System (LOS)
