Job Title: Remote Mechanical Drafter - CAD Designer (100% Work From Home)

Location: Remote from Latin America

Position Type: Full-time

Salary:$20-25 USD/hour depending on experience (approx $3,200 - 4,000 USD/month)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Mountain Time or Eastern Time

Job Overview

The Mechanical Drafter / CAD Technician is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate mechanical drawings, models, and documentation to support fabrication, assembly, and installation of customer systems. This role translates engineering designs into complete, production-ready documentation while ensuring compliance with company drafting standards and configuration control requirements. The CAD Technician plays a critical role in ensuring design intent is correctly communicated to manufacturing, fabrication, and operations teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings from engineer developed concepts
  • Develop fabrication and assembly drawings, weld details, and installation details
  • Apply company drafting standards, layer conventions, and title block requirements
  • Ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and manufacturable
  • Maintain drawing revision control and documentation accuracy
  • Support drawing release and change management processes
  • Update models and drawings per approved engineering changes
  • Ensure BOMs and part metadata are accurate and consistent with drawings
  • Support fabrication and assembly teams with drawing clarifications
  • Incorporate manufacturing feedback into drawing improvements
  • Work closely with mechanical, structural, and electrical engineers to ensure design intent is properly documented
  • Follow drawing quality standards and checklist procedures

  • Can independently approve:

    • Any changes affecting form, fit, or function
    • Discrepancies between drawings and engineering intent
    • Issues impacting safety, compliance, or installation feasibility

  • Mechanical Engineers - Design intent, calculations, and technical direction
  • Structural Engineers - Structural detailing and interface coordination
  • Electrical Engineers - Penetrations, mounting, and equipment interfaces

  • Reduction in manufacturing rework due to drawing errors

Qualifications, Skills and Key Competencies:
  • Previous experience in a similar role (at least 4 years)
  • Portfolio of CAD designs and drawings of previous work
