Emerson is a global leader in automation technology and software, and they are seeking a Process Tuner Field Engineer to join their Power and Water Solutions team. This role involves managing resources for service and field projects, providing advanced process tuning, and working closely with plant operations teams in the power industry.


Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced process tuning for Boiler or BOP processes
  • Work with plant operations teams, while at site, to ensure effective tuning of plant processes for optimized productivity of steam and electricity
  • Develop and implement startup and tuning activities for major retrofit projects
  • Generate and store tuning reports for all site tuning
  • Work with stimulation group to startup and tune high fidelity systems for different customer units
  • Conduct site acceptance and performance testing for major retrofit projects to meet contractual performance targets
  • Apply highly specialized knowledge and skills in an advisory or technical assistant role to engineering and management teams on complex technical or related problems
  • Contact customers to review and promote their needs for service, maintenance contracts, system adds, and stand-alone system requirements
  • Develop and advise the implementation of "engineered system" projects or system adds using current and non-current technologies
  • Provide project management on large projects during installation, start-up, or where it is required to supervise our subcontractors (such as system installers)
  • Provide recommendations for hiring of Field Engineers and participate in interviews, performance evaluations, etc
  • Analyze, investigate, and resolve customer warranty and policy claims. This requires an in-depth knowledge of the obligations and restrictions set forth by warranties and policies so that claims can be settled promptly and efficiently

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical degree
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of field engineering related experience
  • Strong understanding of power plant operation and controls
  • Strong understanding of control schemes for Boiler and Turbine on conventional and combined cycle plants as well as water treatment and renewable power generating facilities
  • Demonstrated experience tuning conventional, combined cycle, or renewable plants
  • Willingness and ability to travel 80% of time, primarily in North America
  • Capable of displaying a high degree of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and competence in day-to-day technical activities. Recognized as an authority in the industry and have demonstrated competence in related fields
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Previous Ovation DCS experience
