Responsibilities

  • Manage request for proposal (RFP) and evaluation process for security management contracts
  • Understand customer processes for purchasing, contracting, etc. including collaboration with provider’s Legal, Risk Management, Compliance, and other support departments as necessary to complete contracting activities in accordance with the member’s policies and procedures
  • Maintain and cultivate new and existing vendor relationships; effectively articulate objectives to vendors and negotiate pricing and value adds to provide provider savings opportunities
  • Develop and enhance Security training program and modules
  • Review and recommend improvements for benchmarks with current vendor pricing against contract pricing for identification of future savings opportunities
  • Design and execute project work plans; provide members with status updates; identify, track, and validate savings achieved through program engagement
  • Prepare analyses and present recommendations to senior leadership at member locations. This may include multi-system, regional aggregation
  • Review and make recommendations for improvements for vendor contracts, security program KPI’s, standard operating procedures, safety and security policies and process
  • Recommend improvements with security vendor training, awareness, orientation, onboarding processes and personal belonging search processes. Monitor physical workflows and movement of patients and staff in high-risk areas
  • Review and recommend improvements for security leadership structure, education, and training
  • Review and recommend improvements for location of cameras, duress (panic) alarms, badge readers and lighting and the quality of these elements, access management and control for building security, including badging processes (how permissions are assigned, what doors are operable under certain access and permissions, door lock schedules review if staff, unbadged, visitor and patient process
  • Evaluate main entry-point access processes (both staff entry and patient/visitor entry) and recommend improvements
  • Review and recommend improvements for vehicle appropriateness, patrol routes and response times. Recommend improvements for security and public safety-centric signage, parking lot, vehicle security and monitoring, processes, post-orders, rounding and risk-points. Evaluate potential security threats by location and intrusion detection; exterior openings fortification, gates and fencing and security operations center
  • Review and recommend improvements for security uniforms, weapons, use of law enforcement, plain-clothed armed agents, other security contractors and security and safety program certification
  • Prepare and deliver assessment reports to include Observations, Crime Index Report, Key User Feedback & Requirements, Practice Use Gaps and Financial Investments/Savings

Skills

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience required
  • Experience as a Director of Security and/or law enforcement at multi location healthcare system required
  • Ability to read location schematic drawings and specifications required
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills required
  • Proficient in the use of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools
  • Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year to meet clients' needs and timetables
  • Relevant degree preferred
  • Experience in Workplace Violence training, consulting, analytics, healthcare supply chain procurement, and an understanding of both clinical and non-clinical activities and processes within the healthcare industry is preferred
  • Board certification in Security Management preferred
