The Sr Technical Manager, Network Sourcing and Provisioning will oversee the sourcing and provisioning of infrastructure services to support global network connectivity, manage vendor relationships, and ensure network efficiency and cost reduction.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Network Engineering and Architecture teams to gather connectivity requirements (locations, type of circuit, capacity, etc.)
  • Manage the RFP/RFQ process, gathering pricing and KMZs when applicable from several key vendors/carriers to qualify circuit diversity and/or resilience
  • Manage Architecture meetings to perform in-depth KMZ reviews/analysis
  • Negotiate desired terms and pricing with the selected vendor and Yahoo Legal
  • Provide end-to-end provisioning support (from time of quote and ordering to the service being put into production)
  • Support NOC and Network Engineering Teams with production turn-ups and technical support (to include vendor management and escalation where necessary)
  • Manage internal Yahoo IX bilateral Peering Queue for improved peering connectivity
  • Manage vendor relationships with various transport and colocation providers
  • Be responsible for creating and tracking circuit requirements
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on funds allocation and billing reconciliation

Skills

  • 5+ years of Telecommunications experience with BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of vendor transport solutions (DIA, Ethernet, Waves, Dark Fiber, e.g)
  • Solid understanding of bandwidth hierarchy for transport requirements (100Mbps, GigE, 10Gig, 100Gig, e.g)
  • Solid experience with router/switch configuration with Juniper background preferred
  • Experience with the ServiceNow platform or other types of circuit provisioning tools and database is preferred
  • Knowledge of IP networking, DNS, load balancing and CDNs preferred
