About the position

The Revenue Cycle Financial Representative position at UNC Health focuses on creating pre-service cost estimates for uninsured patients. This role involves verifying patient coverage, tracking data related to cost estimates, and interacting with various departments to ensure accurate billing and patient understanding of costs. The position offers opportunities for auditing and training once primary duties are mastered.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies patients as uninsured or identifies and updates coverage appropriately
  • Actively participates in departmental quality by making a personal effort to reduce individual errors, and making corrections
  • Review/Create Hospital and Physician estimates within the Epic Patient Estimator
  • Responsible for documenting and explaining benefit breakdown and out of pocket costs for patient understanding

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years of experience in Hospital or Physician Insurance related activities (Authorization, Billing, Follow-Up, Call-Center, or Collections)
  • Knowledge regarding HB and PB billing and procedures
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Customer Service/Training experience
  • Knowledge of UB-04, HCFA-1500's and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation
