Default Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Hours: 0 Salary range: $22.00 Schedule: Per Diem Shift Hours: 8 Hour employee Department: Breast Center (ELCCC) Job Objective: Coordinates all aspects of patient scheduling and ensures all orders, documentation and authorizations are in place prior to office visit/treatment/procedure. Job Description: Education: Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree if hired after March 1, 2025 Licensure/Certification: N/A Experience: Required: One (1) year of front office or scheduling experience in healthcare Reports To: Manager or Director Supervises: N/A Ages of Patients: N/A Blood Borne Pathogens: Minimal/No Potential Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Ability to create a welcoming environment for patients and visitors, demonstrating empathy and respect in all interactions, Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner, Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner, Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., computer, printer, scanner, telephone, etc.), Ability to organize information or data to facilitate easy retrieval and use, Ability to successfully complete training orientation program(s) and competencies, Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications, Basic knowledge of insurances, including eligibility and benefit coverage, and other relevant information, Critical thinking skills, Knowledge of Epic scheduling, registration and communication tools, Written and verbal communication skills Essential Responsibilities 1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. 2. Coordinates patients scheduling for department; verifies insurance and authorizations for patient appointments. 3. Identifies patients by using proper method of retrieving patient history/information. 4. Reviews assigned clinic referral work queues to ensure all referrals and appointments are linked correctly for scheduled appointments; may be responsible for scheduling supportive care appointments. 5. Reviews schedule in advance for signed and active orders, authorizations, follow-up appointments and incomplete items; updates account with accurate information obtained from health plan. 6. Manages automated scheduling technologies to communicate, confirm, and update scheduled patient visits and/or referrals. 7. Completes confirmation calls as needed in collaboration with clinic support staff. 8. Identifies expiring orders and notifies appropriate clinic staff for renewal. 9. Assists in monitoring clinic readiness in The Joint Commission, California and Federal standards, if applicable. 10. Collaborates with Patient Financial Services to ensure authorizations and referrals are current and appropriate, if applicable. 11. Utilizes various reports to identify patients without appointments, recalls, no shows, etc., if applicable. 12. Registers patients and maintains compliance according to departmental benchmark guidelines; verifies, accurately enters and updates patient information while registering as per departmental guidelines, if applicable. 13. Identifies and collects co-pays/deductibles based on insurance eligibility information and/or EMC uninsured cash discount quotes for emergency and outpatient services; provides patient with receipt of payment, if applicable. 14.
