Job Description

Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method , a relationship-based model of teaching instruction developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Rebecca School is opening a new location in Mount Vernon, NY for the 2024 school year and is seeking Speech Language Pathologist Assistants to work with students age 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating and thinking. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will play an integral role in the success of our students, developing treatment plans and goals to improve functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn. Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC after 18 successful years of serving students with neurodevelopment delays in relating and communicating.

RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Deliver speech therapy services to students with special needs
  • Administer pediatric speech assessments to determine a student's level of function in such areas as language acquisition, articulation, and oral motor and feeding
  • Prepare written assessment and reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals and objectives; maintain progress records
  • Provide students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of content and pragmatic issues
  • Educate team members on facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities
  • Monitor therapy and educational staff trained to incorporate appropriate speech therapy treatment strategies into instruction; evaluate effectiveness of the established program and make modifications within the speech and language framework of the DIR model
  • Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs
  • Participate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings and staff trainings
QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING
  • License to practice SLP in NYS
  • Knowledge of DIRFloortime is preferred, but not required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff and parents
