Job Summary The Senior Analytics Consultant - Medical Economics role supports medical cost trend analysis for the Government Business segment, with a primary focus on the Medicare Advantage business. This role is responsible for developing in-depth medical expense analyses, conducting detailed data drill-downs to identify key trend drivers, and executing strategic initiatives designed to address medical cost trends. This position offers exposure to a broad spectrum of the organization, with findings and reports shared across various departments including but not limited to: Finance, Risk Management, Operations, Contracting, Provider Relations, Health Services, Product, Clinical, and local market leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field OR M aster’s degree with 4 year s of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field OR PhD with 2 year s of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field OR 10 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field
  • Highly proficient at querying a wide variety of internal and external data sources to uncover meaningful insights and drive measurable business results.
  • High degree of business intelligence with proven experience leading analytic initiatives from conception to success implementation, delivering actionable insights that influence strategic and operational outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that can be leveraged to deliver meaningful business focused presentations to our matrix partners and provide a clear and concise interpretation of the analysis performed.
  • Demonstrate success working both independently and in cross-functional team settings.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment and deliver high quality outputs to senior leadership on tight deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CMS healthcare data (e.g. MMR, Claims, Eligibility, Provider)
  • Experience with CMS payment methodologies (e.g. IPPS, OPPS, etc)
  • Familiarity with medical and pharmacy claims, ICD10, DRG, APC, HCPCS and/or CPT
  • Experience with Teradata, Hadoop, or other big data platforms and ability to create dynamic and visually engaging dashboard leveraging data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
