We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst for data classification project.
  1. Strong industry experience (Life and Annuity Insurance)
  2. Data Governance understanding – specifically related to data protection
  3. MS SQL and Snowflake skills.
    1. Ability to query data
    2. Analyze data attributes and because of industry knowledge have the knowledge to know what data is sensitive and should be tagged as 'classified'.
  1. Strong communication skills with other IT professionals and business stakeholders

Responsibilities
  • After our offshore team has completed verification of the classification results for a database, this data analyst will do a double check of their work. Understanding life/annuity insurance is important because they will understand the data and the types of data that should be tagged as classified (PII, PCI or PHI).
    • This will also require querying the databases to see the actual data (not just metadata) to determine if something should be tagged.
    • Reaching out to SMEs in the organization to ask questions about the data that can lead to better decision on if something should be tagged.
  • Defining updates that should be made to classification rules – based on experience in actual results. For example, if they find things that consistently need to be manually tagged as classified – they should propose a new rule - or an update to an existing classification rule so that this is tagged automatically going forward.
  • Working with Client Data Governance Director as he reviews classification results – explaining to him why the system tags- and does not tag different things. Negotiating updates to rules – in alignment with Client's data classification policy and Data Governance best practices.
  • Meeting with IT Solution team leaders that own the databases. Presenting the classification results and training them on how to review and updates the results in CDGC.
