Job Summary

Provides technical support and operational oversight for FedEx’s enterprise observability platform. This role supports monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting capabilities to ensure availability, performance, and reliability of enterprise systems. The position partners with application and infrastructure teams to onboard services, troubleshoot production issues, and improve observability standards across FedEx technology environments.

This is an individual contributor role within the centralized Observability Platform team in IT Support / Enterprise Platforms.

Essential Functions

  • Support and enhance the enterprise observability platform
  • Build, configure, and maintain dashboards, alerts, and monitoring standards
  • Analyze logs, metrics, traces, and performance data to identify root cause
  • Resolve production issues of medium to high complexity
  • Frequently lead or contribute to large initiatives and projects
  • Code and unit test monitoring-related solutions
  • Provide guidance to less senior team members
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and offshore teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise observability or monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Datadog)
  • Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise production environments
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot system performance and availability issues using data and logs
  • Backend administration and configuration experience with monitoring tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud-native observability (AWS preferred; Azure and GCP a plus)
  • Experience monitoring containerized platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift)
  • Familiarity with ITIL and/or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts
  • Automation and scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Experience working in regulated or highly available environments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to interpret logs, metrics, and traces
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple technology teams

Work Environment

This position is eligible for remote work and operates primarily in a virtual environment.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal.

Minimum Experience

Requires five (5) or more years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of software testing. Strong problem solving, human relations, and communication skills.

Pay Range

U.S. Pay Range: $6,168.90/month - $10,898.39/month
