About the position

Under the direction of the Manager Advanced Analytics, the Supervisor Healthcare Data Analytics plays a pivotal role in driving analytics initiatives across the organization, working to enhance data-driven decision-making and improve health outcomes. The Team Lead guides and mentors a team of analysts while ensuring the successful development and delivery of health-focused reports, dashboards, and insights. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of healthcare data to drive performance, governance, and continuous improvement in analytics. This position is eligible to work onsite, remote or hybrid (9 or more days a month on site) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for performance monitoring, policy enforcement, termination process, disciplinary action, hiring, compliance and team development.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all hiring, firing and disciplinary actions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts to ensure high-quality deliverables, growth opportunities, and a collaborative work environment.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, supporting team members in achieving their professional goals and staying updated on industry best practices.
  • Coordinate and prioritize team projects to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for data governance, reporting standards, and consistency in health analytics.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Review and improve the formatting, UI/UX, and themes of dashboards and reports to ensure clarity, consistency, and ease of use across all data products.
  • Lead efforts to optimize data models and reporting tools, ensuring performance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Guide analysts in using advanced techniques (e.g., DAX, M Query) for data modeling and visualization to meet business and health-related reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to define, implement, and maintain efficient data refresh schedules and automated reporting processes.
  • Work closely with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytics needs, ensuring alignment with health analytics objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between the analytics team, IT, and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration on projects.
  • Advocate for the use of advanced analytics and self-service reporting solutions to drive actionable insights across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement in analytics processes, tools, and methodologies to meet evolving business and healthcare needs.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in healthcare analytics to incorporate innovative solutions into the team's workflows.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, ensuring that analytics solutions are scalable, effective, and user-friendly.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of healthcare data, regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, QA/QC processes, and standards for data accuracy, integrity, and compliance.
  • Expertise in Power BI development, including data modeling, DAX, M Query, and visualization best practices.
  • Familiarity with advanced data analytics techniques, including data modeling and visualization.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of healthcare analytics trends, new technologies, and best practices for continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Data Science, Healthcare Analytics, or a related field, in lieu of bachelor's degree a minimum of 8 years' experience of relevant experience is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or healthcare analytics, including at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role.
  • Expertise in Power BI development, data modeling, DAX, M Query, and data visualization best practices.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and lead a team to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within the healthcare industry or insurance, with a deep understanding of healthcare data and analytics, preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, or other data manipulation languages, preferred.
  • Power BI certification or other relevant certifications in business intelligence or analytics, preferred.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and implementing data quality best practices, preferred.
