About the position

This position serves as the Deputy Director of the Land, Chemicals and Redevelopment Division (LCRD) within Region 1 of the EPA. The role involves providing leadership, oversight, and technical direction for environmental programs, supporting the Division Director in planning and coordinating regional programs, and managing personnel and budget resources. The position requires regular physical attendance at the duty station, although there are work-from-home and flexible scheduling options available.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Deputy Director of the Land, Chemicals and Redevelopment Division (LCRD).
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and technical direction for environmental programs.
  • Support the Division Director with planning, organizing, and coordinating regional LCRD programs.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Work with senior-level internal and external stakeholders on environmental programs and outcomes.
  • Oversee resource planning and management of the programmatic budget.
  • Spend less than 25% of work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must submit a resume and required documents.
  • Position has education requirements as specified in the Qualifications/Education section.
  • Must undergo a background investigation due to high-risk designation.
  • Must meet time in grade requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement.
  • May be required to complete a one-year probationary period if appointed as Competitive Service or a two-year trial period if appointed as Excepted Service.
  • Must complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure form within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Must complete a 1-year supervisory or managerial probationary period.
