About the position

The Supervisory Physician (Public Health) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plays a critical role in leading and managing public health initiatives. This position involves directing and coordinating work through subordinate supervisors, advising staff on policies and procedures, and ensuring performance standards are met. The role also includes leading collaborative studies with significant national and international implications, making it essential for the advancement of public health programs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee work through subordinate supervisors.
  • Advise staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters.
  • Ensure reasonable equity among units of performance standards developed, modified, and/or interpreted by subordinate supervisors.
  • Identify and analyze issues and their impact as they relate to programs and partnerships.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and analysis of significant collaborative studies with national and international policy and program implications.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a Physician from a U.S. state or territory.
  • At least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (internship or residency).
  • 5 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position or 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
