Joy Music Studio (Marine Parade)

Joy Music Studio is an established music school in Marine Parade. We’re looking for a warm, reliable and engaging Vocals Teacher who can teach individual and group lessons, support student performances, and contribute actively to vocal programmes, workshops and camps.

Immediate teaching availability (Non-negotiable)

You must be able to teach on:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday

Strong performers may be offered additional teaching hours and progression opportunities over time (details shared during interview).

Student age groups you’ll teach

  • Vocal students: ages 6+, mainly primary/secondary school students (with a small number of adults)
  • Music Explorer (expected; training provided): small group class for ages 4–6

Compensation

  • This role can be commission-based or salaried, depending on experience, teaching load, and role fit (details shared during interview).
  • Earnings depend on active student load, lesson duration/level mix, and trial-to-signup conversions.
  • Expected monthly earnings: ~$2,000–$3,000+ (gross) depending on student load and performance. Figures are typical ranges, not guaranteed, as schedules depend on enrolment, conversions and student attendance.

What we’re looking for

  • Diploma/Degree in Vocals (or equivalent professional training/experience)
  • 1+ year teaching experience, especially with kids and teens
  • Comfortable teaching Pop vocals for younger students / beginners, Musical theatre + classical for higher-graded / more advanced students
  • Able to accompany students on keyboard (at least basic-to-intermediate) and help with song arrangements (e.g., key changes, cuts, harmonies, structure/backing tracks)
  • Teach Music Explorers (ages 4–6, small group class) — training provided
  • Confident and proactive in guiding parents on progress and goals
  • Comfortable teaching ABRSM / Trinity / Rockschool curriculums
  • Experience preparing students for DSA auditions/portfolios is a plus
  • Highly punctual and reliable, consistent attendance is essential

Nice-to-have

  • Grade 8 in a second instrument
  • Experience teaching ensembles/harmony groups/choir-style work

What you’ll do at Joy Music Studio

Teach vocals (core)

  • Teach individual and group vocal lessons (ages 6+)
  • Design lesson plans aligned with student goals (exam + non-exam)
  • Build strong foundations: pitch, tone, breath, diction, rhythm, ear training, performance skills
  • Prepare students for exams, performances, auditions and competitions as needed
  • Communicate progress to parents (verbal/written/video updates)

Music Explorer (expected; training provided)

  • Learn and teach our small group Music Explorer programme for ages 4–6
  • Deliver engaging classes that build musical foundations

Performances, groups, programmes & events (required)

  • Support vocal showcases, concerts and studio events (rehearsals, staging readiness, group coordination)
  • Help plan and deliver vocal workshops and camps
  • Assist with song arrangements and performance accompaniment

Curriculum & programme development (required)

  • Contribute to vocal curriculum resources (learning milestones, repertoire etc)
  • Share best practices to strengthen the vocal department’s teaching consistency and student outcomes

Teamwork

  • Participate in staff meetings/training
  • Collaborate with teachers and admin team to deliver a great parent/student experience
