Warehouse Operative

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the production, customer and supplier needs by ensuring the efficient handling, storage, movement and stock control of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the site.

Main Duties

  • To efficiently control transport in and out of the site, meeting production, customer and supplier needs.
  • Ensure all vehicles are loaded and unloaded appropriately and safely
  • Advise the Logistics supervisor of any issues that may affect the efficiency or service provided.
  • Continuously look at ways to improve and innovate the logistics function in particular to adopt and maintain 5S
  • Responsible for accurately raising despatch documents and addressing and resolving
  • Responsible for accurately booking of stock using the appropriate IT systems and communicating any paperwork issues with other departments in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure transport schedules are met to ensure that customer and supplier relationships are maintained
  • Ensure correct parts are in the correct box’s goods in, goods out and production
  • All parts are correctly or appropriately labelled
  • Alert supply chain team of low stock situations through an assigned system
  • Maintain accurate stock control within supply chain system. Eg FIFO
  • Manage and control Customer packaging levels and supply thereof
  • Ensure all storage locations are allocated, identified and goods are stored to avoid damage and deterioration. 5S to be clearly demonstrated.
  • Encompass Goods Inwards and Stores activities as and when required
  • Act as cover for all other Despatch and Stores functions during Holidays and Absence
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained and recommendations are suggested where appropriate

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience within an automotive manufacturer ideally although candidates with experience from other industries will be welcome.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary
  • FLT driving licence would be beneficial
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel
  • Experience in use of Sage System
  • Experience in future MRP system
