Function in the Job

Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Job Function

  • Builds skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.
  • Uses crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.
  • Follows AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.
  • Performs quality inspections on orders to maintain 100% quality standards.
  • Marks all shipments in accordance with customer and AMI procedures and requirements.
  • Properly stencils shipping information as required.
  • Provides maintenance and keeps records of all equipment assigned.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Follows all company safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Participates in TQM and SPC meetings.
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

Required Skills

  • Education/Experience- HS diploma/GED; or one (1) month related experience and/or training.
  • Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
  • Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply understanding to carry out written and/or oral instructions. 
  • Work Environment-Employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level is usually loud.
