About the position

The Water Meter Installer reports to the Smart Meter Deployment Operations Manager at Bermex. This position plays a key role in water meter maintenance and measurement. This position also requires a high degree of walking in outdoor environmental conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility day to day. Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of water service for leaks
  • Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly
  • Properly change out water meters of varying sizes and brands
  • Properly change out water meter registers for AMI/AMR upgrade
  • Read water meters
  • Enter data collected in the field into a handheld computer
  • Assist on additional projects, as necessary
  • Refer all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities
  • Provide general information about the meter services to customers, when applicable
  • Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license is required

Nice-to-haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 or more years of experience in the direct exchange of water meters and registers of varying sizes
  • 1 year of continuous work with the same employer
  • 6 or more months working
