Join our team as we help shape the future. <br><br>TheWorkers' Compensation Claims Plus Team Leader will manage and direct claim investigation, compensability determination, disposition, and settlement, in compliance with corporate claim settlement policies and procedures. They will seek to effectively manage allocated loss costs relative to budget guidelines and fully comply with statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements. This individual shall also effectively communicate and teach a thorough understanding of business vision, strategies and plans for achieving business goals. Through effective training, coaching and staff development, they will enable optimal job performance and the achievement of individual and professional goals.<br><br><b>RESPONSIBILITIES</b>:<br><ul><li>Manage Claim professionals with corresponding claim inventories</li><li>Utilize various financial reporting tools to monitor and address reserve accuracy and trending</li><li>Manage and implement change including explaining drivers for business goals</li><li>Stay current on issues impacting personal and/or commercial business including industry and marketplace trends, strategic direction of the organization</li><li>Use critical thinking skills to gather information, apply sound reasoning, draw appropriate conclusions and make sound decisions based on a mixture of analysis, experience and judgment</li><li>Manage claim assignment process by identifying claim complexity and ensuring proper assigning to the appropriate claim handler</li><li>Oversee the completion and execution of the investigation, disposition, and settlement of claims, in compliance with corporate claim standards and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements</li><li>Accurately and timely assess the indemnity and expense exposure of assigned claims and manage the accurate and timely setting of reserves</li><li>Use organizational and communication skills to effectively manage the resolution of assigned claims, manage claim deadlines, and use resources appropriately</li><li>Use claim functional knowledge to appropriately interpret and apply insurance coverage</li><li>Maintain current knowledge of Claim loss cost containment initiatives, and use them appropriately and consistently with company practices and procedures to manage assigned claims</li><li>Identify and initiate mitigation, subrogation and other recovery opportunities on assigned claims</li><li>Properly apply statutory laws and regulations of applicable jurisdiction</li><li>Effectively train, coach and develop staff to enable them to perform their jobs and achieve individual and professional goals</li><li>Create and support a team environment that achieves Claims' Diversity and Inclusion initiatives</li><li>Build a high performing team with diverse characteristics, where individual differences are valued • Embrace leadership role among claim team leaders and handlers and offer advanced expertise to help teammates</li><li>Experience in leading and managing all levels of staff relative to experience, tenure and professional development</li></ul><br><br><b>QUALIFICATIONS: </b><br><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree preferred</li><li>Minimum 3 years of Workers Compensation Claims Plus experience strongly preferred</li><li>California Workers Compensation experience preferred</li><li>Strong leadership skills in terms of teaching, guiding, coaching and developing staff</li><li>Strong communication skills, both verbal and written regardless of audience demographic</li><li>Knowledge of medical terms is strongly preferred</li><li>Possess analytical and critical thinking skills</li><li>Demonstrated track record of consistent and timely follow through for customer needs</li><li>Strong understanding of reserve accuracy relative to claim exposures both property damage and bodily injury</li><li>Extensive knowledge of customer service drivers and the ability to resolve customer issues, needs and concerns independently</li><li>Strong understanding of financial and operational reports for analysis and action planning</li></ul><br><br><b>Additional Information:</b><br><br>This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise. Preference for someone currently residing in one of the following time zones: Pacific, Mountain, or Central Time zones.<br><br><b>Compensation</b><br><br>The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
